PGA Championship
Hey, all. Crazy week so
this week’s reminder email will be a short one. There will be an email
to recap the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational by the end of the week, so
stay tuned.
This week, it’s the
fourth and final major of the year—the PGA Championship. Remember that
last year’s champ is Jason “Duff Daddy” Dufner, so you may not pick him.
If you forget to make your selection, be sure
to email me by 7:29 a.m. Eastern. Thanks for playing and good luck!
RBC Canadian Open
It was a battle amongst wily veterans in last
weekend’s RBC Canadian Open, as Jim Furyk and Timmy Clark fought for the
title. Shooting an impeccable 30 on the back 9 on Sunday, Tim cemented
the win, his second career PGA Tour victory. A
big congrats to The Fore Horseman and Just Short—both selected Timmy
and are no doubt still celebrating his win in Canada. For TJ, this sets
him up nicely for an end of season run to the finish, as he’s now
sitting third and in the money, behind the Cermak
golf power couple, currently sitting 1-2.
This week, the best on tour head to Ohio for the
World Golf Championships—Bridgestone Invitational. Tiger is the
defending champ, but coming off back surgery, this tournament will be
useful for him to actually get game time, something he
hasn’t had much of this year. As any WGC event, it’ll be a strong field
with plenty of storylines, especially given that Ryder Cup selections
will be happening soon for both the U.S. and Europe. If you miss
tonight’s deadline, be sure to email me your pick
before 9:09 a.m. Eastern. Thanks for playing and good luck!
Open Championship at Royal Liverpool
Friends, we were
treated to an amazing display of golf in last week’s Open Championship
at Royal Liverpool. Young stars like Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler
battled with old guns like Jim Furyk, with even Sergio
Garcia thrown in there for good measure. In the end, Rory held on for a
wire-to-wire win, a truly amazing victory in what was his third victory
in a major. This win certainly comes at a great time for McIlroy, who
had been playing under the shadow of switching
to Nike clubs, his recent publicized breakup and his extreme disdain
for yogurt.
Congratulations to my
good friend Adam “Scott” Pence, who took Rory McIlroy and no doubt could
still be partying over the victory. Adam had been on the Tiger
schedule, making picks every four to five weeks, and
despite this, he’s now made his way up into the top 10 in overall
standings. Let’s also give a shout out to Lost in the Woods and wascally
wabbits on selecting Zach Johnson in the John Deere Classic two weeks
ago. Known for being Footorious B.I.G.’s favorite
golfer of all time, Zach knew this and was inspired to finish second in
the John Deere.
This week, the PGA Tour
heads to Canada for the RBC Canadian Open. A stacked field will be
looking to unwind following the grueling test at Royal Liverpool. Last
year’s defending champion is Brandt Snedeker,
so you can’t pick him. If you’re struggling in the standings, no
worries…maybe this is the weekend you could pull an Adam and climb the
leaderboard! If you miss tonight’s deadline, be sure to email me your
pick by 6:59 a.m. tomorrow morning. Thanks for playing
and good luck!
